Louisiana Tech men’s basketball coach Michael White is the leading candidate to replace Billy Donovan at Florida, according to a report Thursday by Pat Forde, of Yahoo Sports.
Dayton’s Archie Miller has been rumored to be one of the top candidates since Donovan left to coach the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder on May 1.
White could meet with Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley as early as today, multiple sources told Forde. On Monday, at a press conference for Donovan in Gainesville, Fla., Foley said he had not contacted any coaches and the search would begin that night, though he had been preparing a list of candidates for months. He also said the search could last into June.
White, a point guard at Ole Miss from 1995-99, is 101-40 in four seasons at Louisiana Tech. He was also one of the coaches mentioned in early reports about possible successors for Donovan.
